We left Walsall very early for a Sunday morning so we could begin setting up at the Winchester Discovery Centre (pictured right) ready for our performance at 2pm. And what a performance it was too!
We had a very appreciative audience who seemed to be enjoying every minute of every Little Birds story, and also the story of the teleporting prince that we had brought down with us from Walsall. In return, the Winchester crowd made up a tale of a headless horseman who scares everyone out of a palace in order to steal the royal wealth. However, a clever princess pleaded with the horseman not to take the magic flying carpet from the roof, and the horseman immediately went to the highest point of the palace to find the carpet and steal it. He left his horse behind and jumped off the palace using the carpet — which wasn't magic at all! The princess had tricked the monster, so he fell straight down into the royal pond and was quickly captured.
The favourite stories of the day seemed to be "The Cheeky Man" (see David pictured left as the Cheeky Man himself!), which was made up by four girls from Meadows Primary School in Lincoln, and "The Thingy" — also a Lincoln Little Bird's story — which saw our audience making up some of the most exciting thingies we've seen yet. One girl even made a musical thingy, which she showed off to Chip's camera phone after the show...!
Afterwards we journeyed straight to Oxford, where we found a fantastic restaurant called Atomic Pizza — though as you can see from the image to the right, David chose to make his own way there...!
We're very grateful to the staff of Atomic Pizza — especially our waitress, "Princess Leia" — for giving us the perfect atmosphere for a fun and relaxing evening! It's set us up perfectly for our performance at Oxford's Old Fire Station tomorrow!
