Three Dragons & a Dog

When we arrived at the Old Fire Station in Oxford (pictured left), we were met by an awesome technical assistant called Daniel. First he helped us get everything in and set up — see right for a shot of Chip during our sound test (pictured right wearing the T-shirt he won in a spice-eating competition at the Atomic Pizza restaurant yesterday...!). But then Dan also came up with some cool lighting tricks during the show — shivers even went down our spines when he chose to herald the arrival of an evil genie with some sudden colour changes!

Of course, it was the audience who made it such a fabulous show. They absolutely loved sharing stories with us! They joined in and laughed all the way through the Headless & Hopeless story from Winchester yesterday, and then eagerly began crafting their own tale for us to take on to West Malling in Kent tomorrow.

Their story was about three ancient Chinese elemental dragons who were engaged in a bitter feud. But during a moment of peace, the fire dragon was out walking his dog when he found a very curious plant. The stem looked almost like a rope. Bending down for a closer look, the dragon's hayfever caused him to sneeze — and a blast of fire jumped out to set light to the plant. But the plant happened to be the end of the fuse that detonated the whole Earth! Suddenly all three dragons — and the dog — had to work together to put it out. Want to know if they succeeded? Then watch this space for the video Paul managed to get of the story in action!

As the audience left the theatre, it was clear that everyone had thoroughly enjoyed themselves — but not only that, it quickly became apparent that many of them shared an idea about who was their favourite character! Pictured left, you can see Chip being the poor daughter in the story from Little Bird Sylvia's story from Paisley, Scotland — and, in the video below, you can see several children repeating the poor daughter's quote of the day!

Not only that, but some young members of the audience came up to us with pictures of a character they met right at the start of the show. See the wonderful picture by Amber to the right!
